Yesterday, our head coach Chris Poole competed in the highly anticipated Hyrox competition in Glasgow, and we are proud to announce that he placed third overall. This was an incredible experience that he will never forget, and we are thrilled to share his journey with you.
The Hyrox competition is a gruelling test of physical and mental toughness, featuring a series of challenging obstacle course races designed to push athletes to their limits. The course is designed to test strength, endurance, agility, and coordination, and it attracts the best athletes from around the world.
Although not a stranger to Hyrox events, having previously competed in the Men’s Pro & also the Men’s doubles with team mate Tommy Cush, this was the first Men’s Open event that Chris has competed in.
Having a proper pacing strategy for the race is important and we set this by using data obtained from training.
This ensures that you are running your own race, and not getting too caught up on the energy of the event. Because the energy at the events is incredible but it is important to set your own pace and stick to the plan.
As Hyrox is a mixture of running and fitness stations, you also have to prepare your body for compromised running.
Compromised running is a huge part of our programming and something that we specifically work on developing at Hyrox-Alchemy. You could be an amazing runner, but how do you run after pushing a sled or lunging for 100 metres?
Our head coach is incredibly grateful for his experience, and is already looking forward to the next competition after being invited to the World Championships. He would like to thank everyone who has supported him along the way, including his friends, family, and everyone who trains alongside him at the hyrox-alchemy in preparation for these events. We at the alchemy would also like to extend a special thanks to the organizers of the Hyrox competition for putting on such a fantastic event.
In conclusion, we are extremely proud to have our head coach finish placed third at the Hyrox competition in Glasgow and we are looking forward to continuing to push our gym and reach new heights in the future.
The World Championships are due to be held in Manchester on May 27th, so watch this space for more information.
